V7N Blog Challenge With A Twist

keyboard

A week or so after our previous blog challenge, many of those participating (myself included) found out pretty quickly how much each of us really need someone to be accountable to in order to keep ourselves on track with posting to our blogs on a regular basis.

Even with all the improvements we saw from our blog stats, and the interaction with others, without accountability it can be too easy to procrastinate. Before we knew it, some of us were right back to where we started. Other simply missed the daily interaction of moral support.

With that in mind, it is definitely time for another V7N blog challenge, but this time we are going to add a few twists.

In our last challenge, we focused simply on writing something every single day, even if it was short. This time we are going to add a twist with some daily blogging tips that may help improve your writing style, the SEO of your blog, more encouragement, and even how to get more comments on your blog. We are also going to increase the level of rewards a bit.

If you have ever participated in one of these challenges before, you already know what a difference they can make!

You have nothing to lose and you just might have a ton of fun and meet some wonderful people!

What Do I Need To Do To Participate?

Step 1: If you have not done so already, you need to join the V7N. If you need help doing this, please let me know.

Step 2: Post your blog information over in the Official V7N Blog Challenge Participants thread.

Step 3: If you have a Facebook account, join our Blogging Challenge group.

When Does The Challenge Start?

March 7, 2011

The official start date for this blogging challenge (with a twist) will begin Monday, March 7, 2011. However, participants may start early if they wish. We also welcome new challengers to join us later than the official start date.

What Do Participants Do Daily During The Challenge?

Step 1: Post to your blog daily, even if it is short. As you learn new tips for blogging throughout the challenge, try to begin incorporating what you have learned. It doesn’t matter if you write on one blog for the entire challenge or a different one every day. It’s completely up to you how you choose to complete this challenge.

Step 2: Post the title and URL (along with a blurb) of your blog post for the day to the V7N Blog Challenge With A Twist Daily Progress thread at the V7N. You can also post helpful blogging tips, encouragement, questions, and ask for help in this thread.

Step 3: Post the title and URL (along with a blurb) of your blog post for the day to the Facebook Blog Challenge group. You can also post helpful blogging tips, encouragement, questions, and ask for help.

Additionally, when time permits, take a moment to encourage a few other bloggers by posting comments on their blog. When you see posts that you feel others might enjoy also, use Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks to share the posts with others. This will benefit everyone!

Did You Say Something About Challenge Rewards?

I sure did! Obviously the most important rewards will be the connections you make interacting with others, and the improvements you make while blogging. However…

The V7N would like to add a few additional incentives for people to actively participate in this challenge.

At the end of the 30 day challenge, I will be using the V7N Blog Challenge Participants list to collect the names of bloggers for random drawings (3 bloggers) to receive a free listing in the V7N Web Directory.

Additionally, we would like to give a free V7N Web Directory listing to EVERY blogger who refers at least 5 other people to join the V7N and participate in this challenge. In order to qualify for this free listing, those new V7N members that you referred need to add your V7N user name in the referrer text box when they register. Make sure you tell them your V7N user name and how to spell it!

Want even more chances to get one of these free directory listings? The V7N needs a few guest authors for our blogs. Any members of this challenge who write 2 blog posts for posting on either the V7N SEO Blog or the V7N Technology Blog will receive a listing. Your post will include a brief author bio, with a reference link to your site. Interested? Let me know.

Final Notes From Cricket

Do not let this challenge overwhelm you. The sky isn’t going to fall if you miss a day and it isn’t nearly as complicated as it sounds. Just relax and have fun blogging daily, and keep us updated on your progress. Yeah, it really is that simple.

I truly look forward to seeing you take part in this and networking with us all!

Look me up at the V7N (and add me as a friend) when you stop by!

I could use some tips, I always have plenty of pictures, but I run out of interesting things to say…

And… honestly, It seems like my pictures blend together after a while…

It feels like there’s a limited amount of new plants blooming, a limited amount of angles to shoot them from…

And… By nature, I tend to avoid saying anything when it feels like I’m repeating myself…

Do you really mean DAILY? What if I’m feeling especially motivated today and I post 2-3 times, and skip the next 1 or 2 days?

Well I guess that’s what scheduled posts are for…

  7. Just signed up! thanks

  8. Well, this time around I’ll be sure to give it a try. Looking forward to reading others’ work and getting into some intriguing conversations as well!

  9. How do you join the V7N?

  10. Cricket,

The problem for me is my target is CEO’s and they are looking for value. That makes a daily blog difficult as I need to provide take home value so to speak. I have a great blog reputation for that but I think I will tarnish that with a short and simple blog that may be a perceived waist of time, just to improve my SEO efforts.

Now I blog once or twice a month. I can’t even imagine blogging every single day.

  11. I would like to join.

  12. JennyJenny03-07-2011

ok. I’m in. 🙂 Cannot wait to find some tips and ideas.

  13. KarenKaren03-07-2011

Signed up for the second challenge, reworking details that I thought were already settled.

Those of you worried about overwhelming your readers with daily posts (Gary) consider opening up a fun personal or hobby blog at wordpress.com or blogger.com. I found that posting on 2 different personal blogs (different focus on each) plus my business blog last time got me in the habit of writing, gave me experiences that helped me improve my blogging, and gave me some additional exposure to a variety of people on a personal level. Just something to think about!

If there’s an issue with me doing this, please let me know and I’ll take it down. Thanks!
