How To Get Links

That Aaron must work long hours. He’s come up with the definitive “how to get links” guide. 101 ways to get links, to be precise. All good.

One of the best ways to get inbound links, particularly in the blogsphere, is to link out. When I first started blogging, I linked to Danny Sullivan. Danny must have noticed the inbound link, and gave me a write up. Then my server almost died from the flood of newsletter sign-ups. It wasn’t an intentional strategy, but it made me realise how powerful outbound links can be in terms of generating attention.

Still works well today. Everybody looks at their inbound links, if for no other reason than to see who is saying what about whom. Like if you’re in a crowded room and you hear your name – who’s going to ignore that?
