Comments Switched On

Peter Da Vanzo

FYI - The comments are now back on, for anyone who cares to leave a few words, opinion, abuse, praise, ye-olde maps of buried treasure etc.

The spam bots continue to pester us, so we’ve enabled logins in an attempt to stem the tide. Hope that’s not too much of an imposition.

Looks like SEOBlackhat is having a similar problem with spam bots:

“900 comment spams on a single blog from the same person in one day is not black hat SEO, it’s just an attack. What do you think is the appropriate response for something like this? - it took me more than 10 minutes just to mark them all as spam and delete them all from my inbox”

Agreed. I’d also like to know how other WordPress user deal with this?

Blog spam - what’s that? Seriously, I no longer have to deal with spam comments anymore, all I did was download the awesome spam Akimet plugin and when spam arrives it automatically gets put into the ’spam box’

I’ve seen comments on V7N.com forum that people are worried that normal comments will get put into the spam box, but so far I’ve not had one comment go in there.

If you don’t make the comment spammy, i.e. 2 or more links - it’ll not get dumped

    Thanks DarrenC.
