Interesting post over at Jensense about an Adsense click bot network.
“Somebody with a botnet generates the clicks from a few hundred machines and makes sure they look as innocent as possible. Keeps it a low profile while at it. Of course the botnet owner will want a share from the publisher. Bottom line is that the advertiser pays in exchange for a bot visiting him.”
Click-fraud is clearly becoming a bigger issue. The stakes are already high – the entire search revenue model is built on PPC.
While all commerce systems have some level of fraud, it will be interesting to see how the public perception of PPC fraud develops, as advertisers become more aware of the potential risks.
