365 Project Blogging

365 Project Blogging

How many of us have started a blog with great plans and overwhelming enthusiasm but over time found ourselves writing less and less or abandoning the project all together?

It starts with getting busy and missing a few days but once we miss a few days it gets easier to miss more. Before we know it we comes across our blog one day and realize it has been months since we have written or we have a whopping total of 6 blog posts in an entire year.

Seriously, it’s not just me, right? (Please tell me I am not alone in this.)

Heck, my personal blog hasn’t been touched since July 7th. How did that happen?

If you think that is bad, I have a Website Development Training blog (my own) that has not been updated since 2008!

So why on earth would I think I could write for 365 days straight?

Am I totally nuts? Yes, I probably am but not only am I going to do this, I am going to drag YOU along with me.

Together, we are going to write a blog post every single day for the next year.

Keep in mind that no one expects every post to be a work of art. One of the biggest barriers (for most people) to writing often enough on our blogs is our fear that what we have to say is just not good enough. We spend hours trying to make just one post perfect so how on earth can we do that every day for 365 days straight?

What if we just relax and write without all the expectations?

Yes, there will likely be days that we just babble but who cares?

This is not a contest. It’s a challenge.

If we fall off the horse we are going to get right back on it.

There are no rules beyond writing a blog post every single day. You can choose to keep all of the posts on one blog or you can spread the writing out over multiple blogs. If you prefer, you can start a new blog specifically for this challenge. It is all up to you.

To accomplish this, we are going to need a ton of support from each other and accountability to encourage us and to keep us going.

If you are on Facebook you can join our blogging group and take a few minutes every day to chat with us and share your recent blog post.

If you are not on Facebook (or even if you are) you can use the comment section of this post to interact and keep us updated on your progress. Either way, leave a comment on this post to let us know if you plan on participating and which blog(s) you will be using.

One thing I know for sure, if we give this a shot we will become better writers over the coming year.ย What do you say? Are you up to the challenge?

C’mon. What do we have to lose. Let’s do it!

I can barely wait to follow your writing!

  2. SandiSandi12-30-2012

I’m going to say I’m in – I think if I write something early in the morning before I get overwhelmed with everything else I have to do – it might be possible!

  3. Definitely! You can find me at gypsymomstravels.blogspot.com and I have already started and plan on continuing!

    • CricketCricket12-30-2012

I was hoping you were going to join us!

I’m in! I resurrected my blog with Cricket’s blog a day challenge a few years ago and blogging has gotten me through some tough times lately. I’ll be posting in the FB group and here – http://divineknits-infiknit.blogspot.ca/

    • CricketCricket12-30-2012

I did a 30 day challenge one time that brought me through the toughest times in my life. I am ready to start new….

  5. S EmersonS Emerson12-30-2012

Already working on a list of ideas for each of my blogs.

Last time we did this I followed each participant in my RSS feed reader. Starting a new folder of people to follow for the 2013 edition!

    • CricketCricket12-30-2012

Great reminder. I need to make sure to dedicate some time to comment on the blogs!

  6. SueSue12-30-2012

AHAHAHA Do I really have to give a full list? Adding it to my to do list of the day then! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • CricketCricket12-30-2012

You can just add them as we go too if it is easier for you.

  7. ShellieShellie12-30-2012

What a great challenge! I’ll throw my hat in the ring. I’ll be posting to christmas-lights-advice.com and I’m going to start shelliegardner.com. Would it be OK if some days my blog posting is a 500 word category description or product article that I publish to my website? As a side note, I would like to write a non-fiction book this year so I’m looking forward to doing that as well. A book about growing begonias or decorating with lights or cooking when you don’t like to cook …. or something equally spectacular. But you know… if I write a book… it will need….a blog.

I am in also..but can I start tomorrow and I like the idea that I don’t have to do all my blogs on one site. Thank you Cricket and I will have to join the conversation because what you say is right. Trying to make the perfect blog sometimes makes us miss the perfect blog…

    5. http://www.sue-a-darby.com
    6. http://www.goals.sue-a-darby.com (for those babbling days)
    7. http://www.mom.sera-and-justice-together.com (for my even lazier days of just posting a setup of kid photos or a video to keep my mother happy!)

Of the 7 listed 3 have posts day 1 and 1 other one has 2 more posts scheduled…..so I think I’m shooting for 365 total posts for the year but right now I’m taking it a day at a time with the current goal being finish the week and then month! Taking a bite of the elephant… it’s far easier!

      That’s a huge list Sue
      Good luck with it ๐Ÿ™‚

Is it too late to join this challenge?

Well, this one is more of a challenge for me BUT I just moved my website and the blog section is completely BLANK. Soooo, I’m in. I think I’ll be combining it with the 365 photo challenge. Let’s see what I can come up with in the the next 53 minutes for 1/1/13! Oh, blog is http://www.lifeprintsportrait.com/blog

  11. J from MichiganJ from Michigan01-06-2013

    I’m 7 for 7 (I started on the 31st)

I need to come up with a second or third blog… because the one I’m using is linked to my work site (I think.)
So, everything I write has to be appropriate for customers and “work related.”

(“appropriate” may be the wrong word… I just don’t want to complain about the weather or a bad day on my site.)

  12. I am currently blogging 2x a day for a 100 day mission. I am 10 days in so far and rocking solid.

I love this and I am joining the FB group, thanks!
