How many of us have started a blog with great plans and overwhelming enthusiasm but over time found ourselves writing less and less or abandoning the project all together?
It starts with getting busy and missing a few days but once we miss a few days it gets easier to miss more. Before we know it we comes across our blog one day and realize it has been months since we have written or we have a whopping total of 6 blog posts in an entire year.
Seriously, it’s not just me, right? (Please tell me I am not alone in this.)
Heck, my personal blog hasn’t been touched since July 7th. How did that happen?
If you think that is bad, I have a Website Development Training blog (my own) that has not been updated since 2008!
So why on earth would I think I could write for 365 days straight?
Am I totally nuts? Yes, I probably am but not only am I going to do this, I am going to drag YOU along with me.
Together, we are going to write a blog post every single day for the next year.
Keep in mind that no one expects every post to be a work of art. One of the biggest barriers (for most people) to writing often enough on our blogs is our fear that what we have to say is just not good enough. We spend hours trying to make just one post perfect so how on earth can we do that every day for 365 days straight?
What if we just relax and write without all the expectations?
Yes, there will likely be days that we just babble but who cares?
This is not a contest. It’s a challenge.
If we fall off the horse we are going to get right back on it.
WE CAN DO THIS!
There are no rules beyond writing a blog post every single day. You can choose to keep all of the posts on one blog or you can spread the writing out over multiple blogs. If you prefer, you can start a new blog specifically for this challenge. It is all up to you.
To accomplish this, we are going to need a ton of support from each other and accountability to encourage us and to keep us going.
If you are on Facebook you can join our blogging group and take a few minutes every day to chat with us and share your recent blog post.
If you are not on Facebook (or even if you are) you can use the comment section of this post to interact and keep us updated on your progress. Either way, leave a comment on this post to let us know if you plan on participating and which blog(s) you will be using.
One thing I know for sure, if we give this a shot we will become better writers over the coming year. What do you say? Are you up to the challenge?
C’mon. What do we have to lose. Let’s do it!
