SEO Is “Bullshit”?
Oh dear.
Jason Calacanis, speaking at SES of all places, is quoted as saying:
“SEO is bullshit, if you generate a web page with good content Google will rank the page properly“.
The old “content-is-king” argument. Which is, of course, nonsense. You’d think a so-called “social media” guru would know that.
The reality is that search engines often bury great content along with crap content. It is the popular content that rises to the top.
And like all popularity contests, there are ways and means of working the system to ones advantage.

Saying SEO is bullshit is being abit of an extremist I think.
I guess it would be more appropriate to say that it is becoming LESS important in the web 2.0 age with social bookmarking and all the new stuff.

Perhaps he’s trying to be controversial
Really, I don’t think he knows what he’s talking about, or his definition of SEO is narrow. Obviously SEO can increase search engine visibility.
Or perhaps Flash sites really do dominate the serps
