For those Google watchers trying to guess where Google is heading next, here’s a transcript of Eric Schmidts main points from his speech at Search Engine Strategies:

Summary:

  • Cloud computing – if you have the right kind of browser or the right kind of access, it doesn’t matter whether you have a PC or a Mac or a mobile phone or a BlackBerry or what have you…you can get access to the cloud
  • Advertising – a replacement for the client/server business model. The newfound power of advertising to fund “all of the software innovation.”
  • Google central to new paradigm – ensuring that Google derives the most value from the new ‘cloud computing and advertising go hand-in-hand’ paradigm.
  • Goal – Have the strongest advertising network and all the world’s information
