What Are You Going To Be Doing In A Year From Now?
Someone asked me that question, and I really had to stop and think. “Erm….same thing I’m doing now, I suppose”. But that’s not strictly correct.
We work in an environment where nothing is constant, except change. We often have change thrust upon us, with no prior warning or explanation. That is the way of the SEM/SEO, eh.
So, how do you deal with all the rapidly evolving emerging internet trends? Do you watch them closely and try and guess what is coming next, then position yourself accordingly? Do you follow a fixed plan? Where do you think the SEM market is heading? Will there be a shift from PPC to SEO, or vice-versa? Do clients understand any more than they did a few years ago? Is it getting harder or easier to explain strategy to them?
Really, I want to know how the internet market looks from where you’re sitting.

I have been developing, marketing and advertising directories for over eight years now. It’s a matter of keeping up with the search engine algorithms, changing and meeting our customer’s needs. The future is hard to predict but keeping up with it is our job; those who don’t end up as history. I find that diversification of income revenues and marketing sources is essential if you want to survive. Total dependence on any one source can be your end quickly on the internet.
If the future a year from now holds on to today’s trends we will be doing better then we have ever done.

“I find that diversification of income revenues and marketing sources is essential if you want to survive” – very good advice.
