Google Unhappy With Microsoft’s Plans For Search Traffic
Woo-baby. Check out this story, which is reportedly to be published in Monday’s New York Times.
“The new browser includes a search box that is typically set up to send users to Microsoft’s MSN search service. Google contends that this positions Microsoft to unfairly grab Web traffic and advertising dollars away from its competitors.
“The market favors open choice for search, and companies should compete for users based on the quality of their search services,” said Marissa Mayer, the vice president for search products at Google. “We don’t think it’s right for Microsoft to just set the default to MSN. We believe users should choose.”

If I’m correct Firefox defaults its SearchEngine to Google and gets paid pretty well for that.
..So why shouldn’t IE default the SearchEngine they want..
Although it would be different if you weren’t able to change the SearchEngine behind that Box in IE, then I agree with Google actually

Sounds like MS does not want to open souce so to speak with the rest of the internet would. I understand the EU sued and won against MS before for anti trust.
Looks they are at it again. Good luck to them. Maybe this will change in the final version.

If you use software/browser from another company I think they can default your home page to whatever page they want. Especialy if it’s just a search engine home page and not adware, store, etc.
