Which Internet Marketing Sites Are Invaluable?

V7N blog reader, friend and drinker of wine, Sophie, sent me a mail asking: which internet marketing sites are invaluable?

Which is a very good question. I don’t have an easy answer, but I thought it would make a good topic for a post.

The problem is: the sites I consider invaluable will probably differ from yours. We’re all at different stages, have different agendas, different tastes and different levels of sobriety. The sites that often appeal to hard-core SEO algo hackers are unlikley to appeal to generalist marketers, and vice-versa. Then again, it depends on what question they are looking to answer at the time.

Instead, I’ll group together some killer, vaguely marketing-connected sites by category. It would be great if you could share your essential marketing sites with the community, too. Add ‘em to the comments. There’s nothing better than finding a new gem, especially a buried one.

At the risk of leaving something really important out – sorry – inevitable – these are my current picks:

SEO/SEM Tips And Analysis:

General Marketing Theory And News:

Applied Usability Techniques:

Search Engine News:

Internet News & Trends:

Blogging News & Issues:

Thanks Peter. A link would have been nice ya know. ;)

Although it’s a paid subscription I also find Planet Ocean’s Search Engine News invaluable (you gave me that one too actually).

I’m also a huge fan of Confessions of a Brand Evangelist (http://brandplay.typepad.com/).

Great list there, Peter. I got to say, it’s hard to pin authority on any set of sites. Sometimes gems are found in the rough, and entirely missed by the usual sites (SEW, etc)

SEO-wise, Cre8asite has the largest concentration of heavy hitters.

    Cheers for the link.

So how many of those would you read on a daily basis? That’s the other side of the coin – information overload.

You also left out your own blog (SearchEngineBlog.com) which, bias aside, always has a unique take on current issues.

Yah, agreed – Cre8asite is a great forum with some great people.

“So how many of those would you read on a daily basis? ”

Hundreds :) I scan most and read some, using an aggregator. http://blog.v7n.com/2006/04/20/blogs-are-crap/
