Probably the biggest news in “search” over the long weekend was that Google released their not-very-secret-at-all Calendar. There is a tour here.

In short, the Google calendar is:

• Free
• Open (i.e. you can share it)
• Flexible (you can create multiple calendars for different events)
• Searchable (naturally)
• Thankfully not Web 2.0

It is a very strong offering.

Downsides? You need to use it online. And, if you happen to be Google, you’d probably be expecting another avalanche of portal jokes.

If Google can provide some sort of offline capability, then it’s goodbye Outlook for me.
